» What is Windfox?

Windfox is an extension that displays current weather data and forecast values as well (wind speed, wind direction and air temperature) of your favorite surfspot in your Firefox browser. The extension checks Windfinder.com for new observations every 15 minutes. So in order for the extension to be useful you should be permanently online. Another great feature is the wind alarm. Here you can configure a threshold for wind speed (range or static value) and wind direction (also range or certain direction). When these thresholds are exceeded Windfox alerts you with a flashing symbol in the statusbar of you browser. You can also use the extension to switch to the corresponding wind report, forecast, superforecast and statistic on the Windfinder web site. Windfox has been tested with Firefox > 3.0 . If you do not have Firefox yet get first!

» Installation

Open Windfox (addons.mozilla.org) and download the extension with your Firefox browser and follow the instructions on screen.

» Data / station missing

If Windfox used to show wind but now reports "no weather data" for your surfspot then the weather station is out of order. In this case please inform windfox@windfinder.com.

If Windfox continues to report "no weather data" for your surfspot then Windfinder only has a forecast for this spot but no access to a local weather station that reports wind & weather. If you know someone who has a local weather station near the surfspot then please contact us . or if you want to setup your own weather station please read our weather station howto . If you or a 3rd party provides the real time data to Windfinder we offer a free ad banner on our website.

If your favorite surfspot is missing (not in the list) please send an e-mail to windfox@windfinder.com and let us know the name and location of your surfspot.

Op het ogenblik is Windfox beschikbaar in het Engels, het Duits, het Frans, het Spaans, het Italiaans, het Portugees en het Nederlands. Windfox gebruikt uw browser automatisch standaardtaal.

De gebruiker mag::

  • het werk kopiëren, verspreiden en doorgeven
  • Remixen - afgeleide werken maken (toevoegen van nieuwe functies, verbeteringen, fix bugs)

Onder de volgende voorwaarden::

  • Naamsvermelding. De gebruiker dient bij het werk de door de maker of de licentiegever aangegeven naam te vermelden (maar niet zodanig dat de indruk gewekt wordt dat zij daarmee instemmen met uw werk of uw gebruik van het werk).
  • Niet-commercieel. De gebruiker mag het werk niet voor commerciële doeleinden gebruiken.
  • Gelijk delen. Indien de gebruiker het werk bewerkt kan het daaruit ontstane werk uitsluitend krachtens dezelfde licentie als de onderhavige licentie of een gelijksoortige licentie worden verspreid.
  • Bij hergebruik of verspreiding dient de gebruiker de licentievoorwaarden van dit werk kenbaar te maken aan derden. De beste manier om dit te doen is door middel van een link naar deze webpagina.
  • De gebruiker mag afstand doen van een of meerdere van deze voorwaarden met voorafgaande toestemming van de rechthebbende.
  • Niets in deze licentie strekt ertoe afbreuk te doen aan de morele rechten van de auteur, of deze te beperken.

Windfinder aanvullingen:

  • Respect handelsmerk rechten: U mag geen afbreuk aan de Windfinder logo of verwijderen uit de software.
  • Respect data source: You may not change the download source of the weather data that is displayed in the software. The weather data that is displayed in the software has to originate from Windfinder.com.
  • Respect gegevensbron: U mag de broncode te downloaden van de weergegevens die wordt weergegeven in de software. Het weer data die wordt weergegeven in de software is afkomstig te zijn van Windfinder.com.
  • Geen reclame, logo's of ad banners van derden: U mag geen display advertising, logo's of ad banners van andere bedrijven dan Windfinder.com.
